Nature's Challenge by VonStreff Nature's Challenge by VonStreff
About 6 hours of work, as I had hell with the perspective of the ship, and it was my first time painting both a ship and waves. The colours and tonal range were my main focus, as well as creating a dynamic composition which told a strong tale.

I definitely think you did awesome with this work, especially at what your focuses were. The waves and jagged rocks tell of the more than evident threat to the ship and it's crew, while the rather eloquent stances of the silhouetted crew amplify the message considerably. The ominous clouds with the fish-eye perspective do a great job of creating a foreboding and menacing mood that is complimented well by the color scheme. And to top it off, there's the eye-catching red in the middle as if in defiance to not only the almost monochromatic color scheme, but to the elements as well.

On a critiquing note, the front of the ship kinda bugs me because it looks like the wood meets at the front, then warps to point straight forward again which is a little strange to see planks of wood do... not sure if I described that well so sorry if that doesn't make any sense.

Great job! I really like this!

Wow, thanks for the great critique. :) Yeah, the perspective and shape of the ship is twisted beyond hell and back.
