Dracula's Place Is Always Open For Business by VonStreff Dracula's Place Is Always Open For Business by VonStreff
Dracula is possibly the most hospitable host ever. His door is ever open, at least for entry. Leaving is another question. But why would you want to leave when you have intelligent conversation, wit, an epic castle, and the chance of becoming a vampire yourself?

This took about 12 hours, architecture isn't my strong point.. yet! I will conquer it.

I really like how you used color to show distance. The backdrop of the sky is well done and the lighting effects that you added really give the piece a sombre, chilling atmosphere. I can almost feel the harsh cold wind against my face when I look at the two figures preparing to traverse the rocky terrain.

Your work reminds me of good memories of playing Symphony of the Night as a young lad. I can hear the music playing in my head.

Thank you for sharing your work! +fave and adding you to my watch list

p.s. thanks also for the llama badge

Wonderful piece of work, really pleasing to the eye and makes you wonder what the two travellers are thinking as they near the castle .

Thank you :) Yeah, the composition in this one was deceptively simple: Use the rule of thirds, a nice winding path, and have all the trees and rocks pointing at the focus :) Thank you for the kind comment

Oh wow, this is well done.

Re: the architecture -- did you use any reference at all? I find that it helps me to look for several pictures that inspire me, and use them in the piece I'm painting -- not as a direct reference, but as inspiration. It might help you out if you try that. :)

Love the winding path up to the castle. It's a brilliant example of composition, leads the viewer's eye towards the castle but also towards the figures at the bottom, without being confronting. Well done!

Thank you! Ah, you caught me with the no-reference.. *slap on the hand* I have to use them more often, agreed.

Thanks, that was very intentional, glad I pulled it off :)

Yeah, even professionals use reference tonnes of the time and it makes drawings and paintings SO much easier, believe me. :XD:

Whoo, these are really coming along! I like how all the layers of foreground and background sit with one another.

The buildings all look quite rocketish, which reminds me of Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. :)

I think the bare branches on the conifers are my favourite bit. They look exactly like scruffy pines etc. that I've seen up near the Desert Road, really gets that blasted-heath/nothing-really-grows-here feel.

Was this one done in Photoshop?

I were supposed had commented on this a couple hours ago but I lost my comment due my stupid windows shutting stuff down.

I guess you re getting really better Steven, I really like the construct blocks are better defined than your works when I first met you. Also lightning is lovely nyahaha~
Architecture is also one my weakest spot. I am not sure how to fix on this but my hunch been studying composition of cubes on perspective and getting ideas from references... I guess if that works you'll notice on my future drawings heheh
